The Go Bags Program
How it works
The Auxiliary is collaborating with Richland County Children Services, a group of foster parents & others to provide children entering foster care with a duffel bag (or backpack) filled with a blanket, stuffed animal, toy, school supplies & personal hygiene items to help ease the transition. It also gives them something to call their own, given that much in their lives is out of their control. Our goal is also to prevent the long-standing tradition of children in placement using trash bags to carry their belongings. We will provide the duffel bags and plastic totes, while a community group will provide the contents. Richland County Children Services identified this as their primary need for foster children.
